Chapter 1: The Courtesy Call
P-Part 1

When the game starts you'll find yourself in a small furnished room. A computerized voice will instruct you in the basics of movement, then put you back to sleep. Upon waking up, you'll see that everything's changed. The room is now decayed, as if a significant amount of time has gone by. There's a banging on the door, and when you answer it, you'll meet Wheatley, a sentient robotic sphere that will help you escape from the facility. Follow his instructions as he attempts to break you out of your room. Once out of your room, you'll be in your cell from the original game. A Portal will open, allowing you to escape. In the next room, pick up the Cube and place it on the Pressure Button to get the exit door open. Walk through it. You'll need to activate another Pressure Button with a Cube, only they're in two different rooms. The red switches open Portals to the rooms, so press the button to the right room to have a Blue Portal appear and step through the Orange Portal to arrive in the room. Go back out with the Cube, then hit the opposite switch to create another Blue Portal. Enter this room and place the Cube on the button. Finally, head back out and hit the switch to create a Blue Portal, walk through the Orange Portal one more time and exit through the door. Wheatley will meet up with you briefly. Grab the Portal Gun, which only shoots Blue Portals, and use it to get to the stairs. Follow the stairs up and to the next dilapitated testing area. An Orange Portal will be provided for you, all that is needed is for you to create an exit by creating and walking through a Blue Portal. Repeat this to reach the exit door ahead. In this test, there's a pit in the room that has a Cube. Fire a Blue Portal at the Cube to allow it to exit through the provided Orange Portal. Pick up the Cube and place it on the Pressure Button. Exit to the next test. There are two platforms and a pit. Next to the far platform is an Orange Portal. Make a Blue one and get on this platform. Across from you is the other platform with a cube; use your Portal Gun to reach the cube via a Blue Portal. Place the Cube on one of the Pressure Buttons. Look down in the pit to see a new Cube. Use the same technique to obtain this Cube and place it on the vacant Pressure Button to have the door open. You might appear to be trapped here, but if you look up, an Orange Portal will be on the ceiling beyond the glass. Make a Blue Portal and step through it. Once you land follow the path to the next test. This test will require some timing skills. First, hit the switch below the Orange Portal; this will drop a Cube onto a platform in the corner of the room. Shoot a Portal underneath this Cube to get it to exit out of the Orange one. Place this Cube on top of the Pressure Button, which will raise a set of stairs. Next, go up the stairs to the two switches. The one on the right activates a wall, the switch on the left drops another cube on top of an angled wall panel. Shoot a Blue Portal at this panel, then hit the left switch to drop a Cube. Immediately hit the right switch to activate the wall to stop the Cube. Pick up this second Cube and place it on the second Pressure Button. Exit through the door once it opens. You will need to use your falling momentum to solve this puzzle. Notice that the provided Orange Portal is high up; make a Blue one and fall through. The exit door is powered by a Pressure Button and the Cube that you need to place on that button is unreachable from where you're at. Notice the pit in the room; you need to fall into the pit and fire a Blue Portal right before landing. This will cause you to come out the Orange Portal and your momentum will carry you to the other side. Once on the other side go to the enclosed box where the Cube is and fire Blue Portal under it. The Cube should now be in the pit. Hop back down into the pit, grab the Cube, and make a Blue Portal on the ground to exit the pit. In order to get the cube onto the button, you need to do the falling momentum trick again, only this time while holding the Cube. Place the Cube on the Pressure Button. In the next room, you'll face a similar puzzle. An Orange Portal will open up at the bottom of the pit in front of you. Look to your left and create a Blue Portal on the angled panel, then drop through the Orange one. When you land on the other side of the room, turn around and create a Blue Portal on the wall panels on the opposite side. Grab the Cube near you and drop through the Orange Portal. You should now be on the opposite side. The red Pressure Button is behind a panel of broken glass. Follow the walkway around to place the Cube on the Button and then exit this area. The story picks up from here as you'll meet up with Wheatley again and he guides you to the facility's exit. Follow his instructions until you reach GLaDOS' chamber. Once GLaDOS is awakened she'll lead you to the Dual-Portal Gun. Use the Portal Gun to make your way through the ruined lab, which will start Chapter 2.

Chapter 2: The Cold Boot
P-Part 2

Submerged just below the water's surface is a platform. Stand on it and face the laser shooting at the ground. Fire an Orange Portal at the spot the laser is hitting. Shoot a Blue Portal right above the laser receiver. The laser should hit the receiver and power the lift. Exit the room to the next test. In a corner of this room behind some corroded metal is a Redirection Cube. Fire a Blue Portal under the Cube, then an Orange one anywhere near you. Once you have the Redirection Cube, place it in the path of the laser so that it redirects the beam to the receiver on the wall. This will power the steps leading to the Pressure Button on the upper level. ''Walk up to this area and fire an Orange Portal at the floor near the Button. When you step through, you should be in the space where the Redirection Cube was. Hit the Switch here to have another Cube drop which destroys the first Cube. No matter, just grab this new Redirection Cube and step back through the Blue Portal. Take this Redirection Cube and place it on the Button to open the door. Notice the two lasers in this room, one higher than the other. You should also see a Redirection Cube above you. Fire a Blue Portal at a wall near you, then an Orange one above the platform where the Cube is and drop through. Once here, fire an Orange Portal at where the top laser hits the wall, then another right below the receiver near you. This should bring some power to the exit. Take the Redirection Cube and go to the raised platform in the middle. Use the Cube to redirect the lower laser to the receiver on the wall. Exit to the next Test Chamber. Upon entering this test room, fire an Orange Portal at the wall to your left, then a Blue one at the wall in the far corner. There's a Switch here that will drop a Cube for you. From here, fire a Blue Portal where the laser meets the wall. This should power the platform that will arrive shortly. Grab the Cube and ride the platform across the poisonous water. You can hop over the laser beam or use the Cube to block it, but if the beam is cut the platform will stop. Once you reach the other side, place the Cube on the Button and exit this Test Chamber. {C}There are three Aerial Faith Plates in this test. Step on the one directly in front of you and catapult to the other side. Hit the Switch here to release a weighted Cube. See it bouncing on that middle Faith Plate? Use the nearby Plate to launch yourself back to the other side, but time it so that you catch the Cube along the way. Jump back over to the other side, place the Cube on the Button, and exit the Test Chamber. Before you start jumping on Faith Plates in Test Chamber 06, go to the corner of the room and look at the two angled panels. Shoot a Blue Portal on the left panel and an Orange Portal on the right one. Now, proceed to step on the first Faith Plate (don't worry about steering yourself). You will end up next to a Switch. Before activating it, take a look at the Button across from you -- fire an Orange Portal at the ceiling above it. Hit the Switch and wait for some junk to fall through the tube. When the Cube finally arrives, hit the Switch again to send it on its way across the Faith Plates. It should fall right on top of that Button. Exit this Test Chamber. When GLaDOS finally allows you to use a Cube, block the laser to lower the lift. To raise it again, move the Cube off the laser's path with your Portals. On this level, you'll see two panels angled up. Fire a Blue Portal at the left panel, then drop back down to grab your Cube. Use an Orange Portal on the floor to climb through the angled panel. On the second level, you need to drop down through the Orange Portal you made on the floor to launch yourself to where the Button is. Once you've made it to the Button, place the Cube on it to activate the door. Then, fire a Blue Portal at the left angled panel, then drop down again through the Orange Portal at the bottom. This will launch you to where the exit door is. In Test Chamber 08, cross the Emancipation Grill and hit the Switch. This will cause a Redirection Cube to fall. Since you can't bring the cube through the Grill, use the hole in the wall to create a Blue Portal, then make an Orange one on your side and step through. Take this Cube and aim the laser at the receiver on the wall, then exit this Test Chamber.

Chapter 3: The Return
P-Part 3

After GLaDOS lowers the ceiling for you, fire an Orange Portal at it, then a Blue one on the ceiling on the higher level. Launch yourself from the Aerial Faith Plate and you will end up on that higher level. There's a laser here between two angled panels. Fire a Blue Portal at the panel furthest from you, then go back down and jump on that Faith Plate again. This time you'll end up next to a Switch. Press it to drop a Cube. Fire a Blue Portal at the other angled panel and jump on the Faith Plate again. Grab the Cube and use it to bend the laser beam towards the standalone wall. On the opposite side of this wall is the receiver. With the beam still hitting nothing but the wall, fire a Blue Portal at the angled panel aimed up at the highest level. Again, use the Faith Plate and get up on the higher level. Here you can use your Portal Gun to allow the laser beam to hit the receiver. In the next room, notice the Cube being played with by one of the floor panels; launch yourself from the Faith Plate on the floor. When you land, fire a Blue Portal at the wall facing the area where the Cube is, then fire an Orange Portal at the ground below. Drop through and grab the Cube. Make a Blue Portal down in the pit below and drop yourself and the Cube through it. You should now be back near the Faith Plate. With Cube in hand, launch yourself from the Plate. When you land, use the Cube to block the beam which will lower the divider. Drop back down and launch yourself again and when you stop, hit the Switch nearby. This will cause a Redirection Cube to drop. You will see a receiver on the wall nearby so shoot a Blue Portal at the wall opposite of the receiver. Take the Redirection Cube and swap it for the other Weighted Cube. Aim the beam at the corner wall on the other side and fire an Orange Portal at it. This will cause the laser to hit the receiver on the level above you. Grab your Weighted Cube and jump on the Faith Plates again. When you land near the exit door, place the Cube on the Button. Shoot a Blue Portal at the wall touching the Hard Light Bridge. Look across the gap and shoot an Orange Portal at wall to the left of the exit door. This should create a Bridge spanning the gap. Cross the gap and activate the switch. You will notice that the Cubes are falling directly into the poisonous water. From where the switch is, fire an Orange Portal at the right wall so that it creates a Bridge going into the recess in the opposite wall. Drop down onto this bridge and follow it to the end. Turn left and use an Orange Portal to create another bridge below you. You should then fall onto this new bridge. You will be able to see the Cubes dropping now, so make another Orange Portal and extend the bridge so that you can reach the Cube. Grab it and pass through the Orange Portal. You need to get the Cube onto the Button on the far side of the room. From where the Light Bridge is, fire an Orange Portal at the right wall so that the Bridge extends to the Button. Drop the Cube on the Button and make your way to the exit door. Notice the Hard Light Bridge in the top left corner? Fire a Blue Portal above that, then fire an Orange one straight ahead and step through. You should now be on the Bridge. Look over to where you were and notice the tube carrying a Weighted Cube. Fire an Orange Portal underneath it and a Blue one straight ahead, extending the Bridge under the Cube. Cross through, activate the switch, and grab the Cube. Go through the Orange Portal so that you're overlooking the room again. Fire an Orange Portal on the wall below the Switch so that it extends the Bridge to the far side across the water. Cross through the Blue Portal, place the Cube on the Button, and exit the Test Chamber. The hallways ahead of you are guarded by Aperture Turrets. Attack these from behind by using your Portal Gun to make Portals behind the turrets, then step through and knock them over. Up ahead, you'll see two turrets behind bulletproof glass. Near you are several Weighted Cubes. Fire a Blue Portal above a turret, then an Orange Portal below one of the Cubes. It should fall on top of the turret, disabling it. Do the same for the other turret. In the adjoining room, you'll be faced with three turrets. Use the same technique as before: fire a Portal above the turret aiming at you, then drop a Cube through another Portal to crush the turret. Once all the turrets are down, grab a Cube and place it on the Button. Pass through some kind of assembly area and you'll be elevated into a room with a laser, a Redirection Cube, and three markers that you need to hit with the laser. Arrange the Cube so that it's directing light at two of the markers, then fire a Blue Portal at the spot where the laser hits the wall. Fire an Orange Portal near the remaining marker so that the laser activates all three. Be careful when rounding the corner, a turret will be facing you. When a turret is in sleep mode, it will take them a second to react, so you have a brief moment to slip by without being shot. Disable this turret, then fire a Blue Portal where the Hard Light Bridge meets the wall. Look into the large room ahead and fire an Orange Portal so that it blocks the other turrets around the corner. Walk to the other side and right above the exit door is some wall paneling. Fire an Orange Portal so that the Bridge extends across the room, then step on the Aerial Faith Plate nearby. The Bridge should stop you and you should drop onto the raised platform. Go to where the turrets are, drop down, then disable them. Grab the Cube and place it on the Button. The bulletproof glass blocking the exit door will lower. Quickly shoot a Blue Portal behind the sentry turrets, then an Orange one nearby and slip through. For this next puzzle, you will use the laser to destroy turrets. Step on the Button to activate the laser. Fire a Blue Portal at the laser and an Orange Portal on the wall opposite the row of turrets. The laser should cut through all of them. Grab the Weighted Cube and place it on the Button. Use the Redirection Cube to aim the beam at the other turrets and the receiver. Look to your left and spot the Hard Light Bridge. Fire a Blue Portal at it, then an Orange one on the wall nearby and step through. standing on the Bridge, notice the wall panel adjacent to the laser receiver. Fire an Orange Portal at it so that the Bridge extends underneath the receiver. Take the Cube, cross the Portals, and place it so that it's still blocking the laser. Step off and head for the lift. Stand on the lift and fire an Orange Portal anywhere on the wall so that the Cube falls on top of the Button. If you've positioned the Cube properly, it should activate the lift. Exit this Test Chamber.

Chapter 4: The Surprise
P-Part 4

After GLaDOS's "surprise," jump down in to the test area and stand behind the Bridge. There's a turret on the other side aiming right at you. To the right of that turret shoot a Blue Portal at the wall. Now shoot an Orange Portal anywhere near you and step through it. Once on the other side, fire a Blue Portal at the point where the Bridge meets the ceiling, then another one on the floor to the left corner of the room. Activate the switch here and watch the Bridge "catch" two Redirection Cubes. Go back to the other side and use the Cube to angle the beam so that it destroys the turret. You now need to direct the beam so that it hits all the markers. Position one Cube so that it shoots a beam hitting the two markers near the Bridge. Place the second Cube near the remaining markers so that the beam hits the markers and the receiver on the wall. The beam should form an acute angle. All that's left to do is to extend the Bridge so that you can walk on it to the exit. Look to your right and you'll see a Redirection Cube sitting on a tiny ledge. Use your Portal Gun to get to the Cube, then take it to the right side of the room. See the laser beam? Use your Portals to make your way up to where the laser is hitting the wall, then use your Cube to aim the beam at the marker on the other side of the room. Grab the other Redirection Cube on the bottom level. You need to get it up to where the beam is hitting that first marker. In the wall is an Aerial Faith Plate. Shoot a Blue Portal right above it, then an Orange one near the ceiling on the wall facing the first marker. Pick up the Cube and place it on the Plate. It should launch it through the Portals and land near the marker. Now you have to get yourself up there. Leave the Blue Portal above the Plate and fire an Orange one where you can step through it. As you step through, you need to shoot a Blue Portal somewhere so that it's not above you anymore. This will keep you in a constant bouncing motion. Aim a Blue Portal at the wall overlooking the first marker, then shoot an Orange Portal above you so that, just like the Cube, you're sent flying to where the marker is. Position the Cube so that the beam is hitting the second marker near the entrance. You will need a third Cube, found on a higher ledge to the left of the entrance. Use the same technique with the Plate to launch yourself at the third Cube. Catch it as you fly past, then position this Cube so that the laser destroys the turrets and hits the receiver. With all the markers activated, use the Faith Plate to launch yourself to the exit. When you enter the testing area, look at the laser on the far left. See where it hits the wall? Shoot an Orange Portal at that spot. Arrange the two Redirection Cubes so that there are three beams hitting the Orange Portal. On the other side of the room are three receivers lined up. Shoot a Blue Portal at the wall in front of them. Now, go back to the Cubes and arrange them so that all the beams are hitting all three receivers. With all receivers activate, the exit door should now open. In the next chamber, fire a Blue Portal at the Hard Light Bridge, then fire an Orange Portal at the wall on the other side of the water. You need to reach the Switch in the wall above the Button, so you'll need to jump and shoot Orange Portals to get the Bridge higher and higher. Once you reach the Switch, hit it and head for the fallen Cube. The power in the room should go out and Wheatley will appear. Go towards him (be careful not to fall in the water) and follow his instructions. While escaping with Wheatley, GLaDOS will tempt you with an easy puzzle. Don't go to it (unless you're after a special Achievement/Trophy), because it will lead to your death. Keep following Wheatley until the beginning of the next section. Follow Wheatley throughout this section. If you ever lose sight of him, look for his management rail above you and follow that. When you run into the turrets knock them over. Fire a Blue Portal at the wall near the turrets and an Orange one at the wall beyond the tan wall panels boxing you in. Keep running and don't stop even when turrets are shooting at you. Reach the elevator lift at the end and get ready for the next chapter.

Chapter 5: The Escape
P-Part 5

The door in front of you will be broken, so make some Portals to escape. The rest of this area is pretty straightforward, as Wheatley will tell you exactly what to do and where to go. There is a section where you have to make your way down some spiral tubes, which can be a little tricky. Just hop on the yellow boxes on your way down, then jump onto the tubes and walk along them to your destination. You need to get onto the conveyor belt of broken turrets. Put up a Blue Portal in the office, then an Orange one above the belt and hop on. If you're after Achievements/Trophies, look for a turret that's "awake" (the red laser sight will be on). Grab it so that it's not destroyed by the conveyor belt. Continue along until you see a turret testing area where they shoot at a dummy. Fire a Blue Portal on the ceiling behind the dummy, then an Orange one near you. Step through and shoot a Blue Portal in the office on the other side of the turrets. Wait until a black malfunctioning turret shows up, then shoot an Orange Portal on the wall behind the dummy and step through. In the next area, you'll see the assembly line toss the malfunctioning turrets away and keeping the good ones. Stand next to the receptacle where the bad turrets are going and catch one as it falls toward you. Carry it with you to the control room. When Wheatley breaks the glass to the master turret, Portal your way in and swap the master turret for the black one you carried with you. For another Achievement/Trophy, allow the machine to scan you before placing the black turret. Follow Wheatley to the Neurotoxin Production area. Along the way, you'll come across some science projects made by some kids. Take a look at the giant potato one and look at the name on the project. Interesting... Continue following Wheatley to the next area. You are now near the Neurotoxin Generator. Follow Wheatley until you reach a switch that opens the door nearby. Before going though, fire a Blue Portal at the wall with the laser. Wheatley will go to the next room to to figure out how to shut down the generator. You will be able to see the generator from where you are. On the far wall to the left you should also see some wall panels being moved up past the ceiling. Fire an Orange Portal at one of the panels so that the laser cuts through the pipes as the panel moves up. Look to the right near the ceiling you'll see more wall panels here. Again, fire your Orange Portal and watch as the laser cuts through the rest of the generator tubes. Go through the doors to meet Wheatley and ride the tube all the way to the next area. Follow the path until you reach a huge expanse of nothingness. There's some paneling you can fire a Portal onto, then shoot another on the wall next to you and hop through. Try the door in front of you to spring GLaDOS' trap. Watch as all your hard work in this chapter pays off. When Wheatley arrives, grab him and place him in the terminal that appears. You'll need to press the Switch in the small room to initiate the transfer between Wheatley and GLaDOS. Aerial Faith Plates will block you from entering the room with the Switch, so use your Portal Gun to get in. A shield of wall panels will now prevent you from touching the switch, so again use your Portal Gun on the walls to sneak your way behind the shield. Step in the emergency exit elevator when Wheatley calls it up for you.

Chapter 6: The Fall
P-Part 6

Follow the path until you reach a chain link fence. Use your Portal Gun to get to the other side. The path is pretty self-explanatory; whenever you reach a dead end, there's always a wall panel somewhere nearby you can Portal through. When you see all of the "Keep Out" signs, you're near the end of this section. When you get to the giant vault door, you have to pull the two levers in order to get the door open. You only have a few seconds from when you pull one lever until the system resets itself. Solution: Place a Blue Portal in the office of one of the levers and an Orange one in the office of the other. Pull one lever, walk through the Portal to the next office and pull the other lever. Once the giant door is open enter the smaller door. Go through the door and you'll end up along some kind of dockyard. Look for a broken door and use your Portal Gun to get to the other side. Up ahead, shoot a Blue Portal at any wall near you, then an Orange Portal at the wall on the very top right (you should see some scaffolding you can walk on. Up here, look down and fire an Orange Portal at the ground and a Blue Portal on the angled section of the wall. Drop down through the Orange one and out the Blue one, sending you flying through the Aperture Science logo. Take the elevator and once you reach the top walk down to the level below. You can peer down the elevator shaft all the way to the bottom; shoot a Blue Portal down there. Now, look to the corner of this large room, you should see some angled walls. Place an Orange Portal here and drop through the Blue one. You will end up at Pump Station Alpha where you must pull a lever to start some of the machinery. When that's done look up to the ceiling near the corner and you'll see your exit. Portal your way up here and walk down the pipe to the lift. This test will introduce you to the Repulsion Gel (Blue Gel). It's basically Flubber: you jump on or from it and it bounces you around. In the room with the pit covered with Blue Gel, just hop off one end, bounce off the Gel, and land on the other side. Portal your way up to the higher area, where a Button awaits. On the other side is a Switch that drops a Weighted Cube to place on the Button. Hop off the ledge near Button, bounce on the Blue Gel, and land near the Switch. The Cube will fall back to the bottom, so go get it and Portal back to the Button. With the door open, bounce back over to it and step through. Portal up to the higher catwalk and then drop off the left side. In the next room, fire an Orange Portal at the wall panel on the ceiling of the right corner above the moving platform. Use a Blue Portal to get on the platform then get to the box. Portal your way to the Button on the other side of the room. This will activate a wall panel further up, overlooking the Blue Gel. Shoot an Orange Portal at it, then a Blue one behind you and step through. Bounce off the Gel and walk through the Emancipation Grill. In this area there's Blue Gel on the two walls and on the ground. You need to bounce off the ground while aiming for one of the walls. You will then be bounced from wall to wall, with your momentum carrying you to the other side. Grab the box and place it on the Button near the Grill. The Button will activate another wall panel even higher up; this one facing the exit. Fire an Orange Portal at it and a Blue one near you. Step through, bounce off the Blue Gel, and walk to the elevator. Walk along the twisted metal across the water to the area with the columns. Near the top you'll see a catwalk, shoot an Orange Portal at it, then a Blue one at one of the columns nearby and step through. Up here, you should be able to see the testing area. Portal your way in. There's a Switch here that activates the Blue Gel dispenser. What you need to do is use the Portal Gun to spread the Blue Gel on the ground so that you can bounce to the higher areas you can't normally reach. Once you're able to bounce through the Emancipation Grid, shoot an Orange Portal at the angled panel, but be careful not to step through the Grid again or you'll lose your Portal. Fire a Blue Portal under the dispenser and watch as the gel flies through the air, hitting the floor on the far side. From here, fire a Blue Portal on the floor below you and drop through. You should have enough momentum to pass through the Grid, bounce off the gel on the far side, and up to the exit. In this area, there's a Gel dispenser and some water flowing from a pipe. There's also a Switch that stops the water in a recess on the wall. Fire a Blue Portal underneath the Blue Gel, and an Orange one under the Switch so that you can bounce up and hit the Switch. Now, you have only a few seconds to get an Orange Portal on the angled panel that's facing a metal screen. The Gel will shoot out of the Orange Portal and onto the spot where the water was. Quickly jump onto the Blue Gel under the water pipe and up to the next section. Here you'll see a tiny amount of Blue Gel dripping down. Shoot a Blue Portal at the angled section of the wall and an Orange one under the dripping Gel. Now look up and shoot an Orange Portal at the wall near some metal scaffolding and a Blue one anywhere nearby and step through. From up here, place a Blue Portal on the angled wall and an Orange one below you and drop through. This should bounce you off the wall to the next section. There's a glass box suspended from the ceiling with a weighted box inside. In the far wall is a Blue Gel dispenser and some water. Fire a Blue Portal underneath the Gel and an Orange one in the ceiling of the glass box. This will fill the it with Blue Gel, causing the box inside to bounce around and break out. For an Achievement/Trophy, catch the box before it touches the ground outside of the glass. Take the box (now covered in Blue Gel) and wash it off with the water. Place the box on the Button and stand on the lift that the Button calls down. Fire an Orange Portal above the box to get it to bounce off the Button, causing the lift to rise. Now just exit the area. After stepping off the elevator look to your left. Fire an Orange Portal at the wall near the catwalk, then head into the room up ahead. As soon as you enter, turn around and fire a Blue Portal at the wall and step through. Go through the door at the end of the catwalk. You will now be in another Pump Station. Fire a Blue Portal straight ahead and an Orange one above the catwalk. Up here, look down at the panels on the floor. Put a Blue Portal on the "lower" one and an Orange one on the "upper" panel. Drop through the Blue Portal. On your way back up, shoot a Blue Portal at the panel facing the exit. Your momentum should take care of the rest. In this final section of the chapter, notice the angled wall to your left and the corroded catwalk high on the large wall in front of you. Portal your way up to this catwalk, then look down. Place an Orange Portal below and a Blue one on the angled wall and drop through. This will land you near an office. Step inside to meet an old friend. Use the same momentum effect outside to launch yourself through the Aperture Science logo and into the exit elevator.

Chapter 7: The Reunion
P-Part 7

When you enter the testing area, you'll notice a ramp and a Switch on a higher level in the corner of the room. Fire an Orange Portal at the wall facing the ramp and a Blue one on the ceiling above the Switch. There's also an Orange Gel dispenser here. Go through the portals and fire a Blue Portal below the dispenser. Activate the switch. This will coat the floor leading up to the switch. Run up the ramp and you'll land on the other side. Turn around and shoot a Blue Portal above the Switch again, then an Orange Portal on the wall to the left of the arrows near you. Step through the Portals. Back near the Switch, fire a Blue Portal below the dispenser again and hit the Switch. This will coat the floor of the area you just came from. Go back there, run along the Orange Gel, and land in the other section. There's a box here behind a wall of glass with a hole. Use your Portals to get the box and bring it back to the first area. Next to the ramp is a Button, place the box on it to raise the ramp. Fire an Orange Portal at the wall facing the ramp, then launch yourself off the ramp again. Here, look to the right. At the top you'll see a Switch hanging horizontally above you. Shoot a Blue Portal on the floor below it and step through. Run to the top of the ramp but don't go off. Instead, turn around and run through the Orange Portal, giving you enough momentum to shoot up and hit the switch. In this next section, there's both a Blue Gel and Orange Gel Dispenser. Near the edge, on the ceiling, is a spot where you can shoot a portal. You need to coat the floor so that you can run on the Orange Gel, and have some Blue Gel at the end to launch you to the other side. After you've landed, walk around this pillar until you can see the exit on the far side. Look above you and you'll see another catwalk and a spot for a Portal. Shoot a Blue Portal at this spot, then an Orange one anywhere near you. Once you're up on this catwalk, look back to where the dispensers are. Shoot an Orange Portal anywhere in that area and go through. Back where you've started, shoot an Orange Portal at the wall on the pillar in front of you, so that when you launch yourself again, you'll fly through both portals and land on the catwalk in front of the exit. This area can be tricky and needs to be done in a specific order. First, notice the two dispensers here: one for Blue Gel and one for Orange Gel. They're always on, so there's no need to find a Switch to activate them. Second, there's a section separate from the one you're on that has a Button; find it. Fire a Blue Portal under the Blue Gel dispenser and an Orange Portal at the target near the Button. This will coat the underside of a panel with Blue Gel, which will come into play later. Now, to the right of the small area with the Button, you'll see another area, up higher. This has a ramp on it. Fire a Blue Portal at the wall facing the ramp, then an Orange Portal under the Orange Gel dispenser. This will coat the far ramp with Orange Gel. Now, there's another area closer to you, just beyond the dispensers. Fire a Blue Portal at the wall here, so that it makes a sort of "runway" with the Orange Gel. Above where you fired the Blue Portal, place an Orange Portal at the angled section of the wall. Now look at the Blue Gel dispenser and shoot a Blue Portal under it, allowing the Blue Gel to fall through. Step through the Blue Portal. On this "runway" shoot a Blue Portal at the wall near the Orange Gel-covered floor. You should now have both Portals on top of each other. Run down the "runway" so that you're launched upwards, bouncing off an angled piece that should be covered in Blue Gel, and finally landing on a suspended platform with a box. From this platform you will be able to see the Button. Grab the box, drop down to the area below you, and Portal over to the Button. Place the box on the Button, which should rotate the panel that you covered in Blue Gel earlier. Now Portal yourself back to the "runway." From here, beyond the steel beams, you should be able to see the far ramp that should've been covered in Orange Gel. Fire a Blue Portal over there, facing the short ramp, then shoot an Orange Portal on the wall at the end of your "runway." Run through the Orange Portal, off the ramp, bounce off the now-inverted panel covered in Blue Gel, and onto the catwalk in front of the exit. Follow along the path until you reach the out-of-service elevator that's supposed to go to the surface. Place a portal on the wall nearby, then another near the catwalk above and step through. You'll see a sign for Pump Station Gamma. Portal your way over there and look for the three levers. Pull them all down and watch as Gel spills everywhere in the room. The White Gel is Conversion Gel, allowing you to place a Portal on any flat surface is touches, regardless of whether it's the appropriate type of flat surface or not. There's some Blue Gel dripping here, as well. Portal your up to the broken catwalk above, then drop and bounce off the Blue Gel to reach the other side. Ahead of you, there's a stretch of hallway covered in Orange Gel, with machinery slamming down to the ground. Time it so that you can run down the hallway without being crushed. Go through the door in the next room. Here, to your right is some angled wall facing a broken catwalk. Shoot a Blue Portal on this angled wall. Go back and look down the Orange Gel hallway and shoot an Orange Portal at the end. Run down the hallway and launch yourself to the catwalk. After you land, continue on to a waiting area. There's an office nearby with a button that opens the door. Take the elevator up to the next test. In this room, a pipe is spilling White Gel on the floor. Before shooting off any Portals, take time to explore the area. Outside of the walled-in section with the White Gel, you'll notice a ramp facing the exit. Next to the ramp are some columns, one of which has a catwalk at the top. Place a Blue Portal under the White Gel. Now you need to place the Orange Portal so that the White Gel coats the ramp and the two columns next to it. You'll need to place the Orange Portal up along the sides of the columns facing each other so that you can coat the area near the catwalk. Portal up there once you're able to. From here, look down at the ramp and place a Blue Portal there. Find a spot on the floor that's covered in White Gel and shoot your Orange Portal there. Fall through and launch yourself toward the exit area. The next section isn't a test, but you'll still need to figure out how to make your way up this elevator shaft. There's paneling all along the support columns and catwalks above that you can use to Portal yourself up to. Keep going higher until you see the elevator itself. Place an Orange Portal on the floor of the elevator car and use it to move higher until you're looking down through the top of the elevator car. You need to place your Blue Portal so that dropping through the Orange one will launch you even higher up the elevator shaft. The first part of this last area is some large scaffolding you need to climb up. Use the support columns to place Portals until you reach as high as you can go. Look for a door with some angled wall above it. Shoot a Blue Portal at this wall, then look down and shoot an Orange one below you. Drop through and launch yourself. When you've landed, look at the dripping Blue gel. Shoot an Orange Portal underneath so that the Blue Gel hits the ramp that you landed on. Now, look down at the bottom again and fire an Orange Portal. Drop through, only this time, when you hit the ramp, you'll bounce off. After passing through the Emancipation Grill, you'll see a room that has all three colors of Gel dripping. First you need to use the White Gel to allow yourself to place Portals along the center wall, one on top of the other. Then make a "runway" with the Orange Gel. Run down the runway, bounce off the Blue Gel at the end, and shoot through the Portals to reach the area above. There's more dripping Blue Gel here, so use your Portal Gun, and the White Gel below, to make another "bounce spot" at the end. Hop back down onto your "runway" and do the same trick again, only this time you should bounce to the next area. There's more White Gel here; use it to work your way up to a system of pipes and ventilation shafts. There's some angled wall behind a metal screen, place a Portal here and another under the White Gel from below. This will paint the entire area with White Gel. Use it to Portal your way higher. In the final area, there's a giant hatch door on the ceiling. Place an Orange Portal on the floor nearby, and a Blue one up near the catwalk above. From the catwalk, place a Blue Portal in the corner of the room overlooking the office with the "Hatch Override" button. Drop down through the Orange Portal and land in the office. Hit the override, climb in the lift that lowers to you, and exit this chapter.

Chapter 8: The Itch
P-Part 8

Follow the path until you see Wheatley trying to get a bunch of Cubes with legs to solve a simple puzzle. There's a crack in the wall nearby that you can use your Portal Gun on. After GLaDOS' plan fizzles, go to the first Test Chamber. This room is barely a puzzle. Hit the Switch to drop the Cube onto the Button then use your Portal Gun to get to the other side of the room. Wheatley will have you perform this puzzle twice, then he'll allow you to proceed into the elevator to Test Chamber 02. This is the first real test of this Chapter. It will also introduce you to the Excursion Funnel, a blue energy stream that moves anything placed inside of it along a straight path. It's similar to the Hard Light Bridge, in that it can be extended with Portals to cross gaps. Here, notice the Button on the ceiling. Then, hop into the Funnel and float to the second level. There's a Cube with legs here; fire a Blue Portal at the dead end of the Funnel, then an Orange Portal on the wall near the Cube. Float from one Funnel to the other, grab the Cube, then Portal back to the first level. Down here, fire an Orange Portal below the Button and place the Cube inside of the Funnel. With the exit door powered, hop back into the Funnel and out through the exit. In the second Chamber, look down at the Funnel. Look to the right. See that wall? Shoot a Blue Portal at the top of the wall. Hop down into the Funnel and shoot an Orange Portal. As you pass through, look to the left and you'll see a wall where you can place a Portal. Shoot a Blue one at it and ride the Funnel to the other side. Funnel your way up to where the Button and Switch are. Hit the Switch to release a Cube, using a Funnel to bring it to you. Once you get the Cube onto the Button on the ceiling, the door will open. Shoot a Blue Portal at the end of the Funnel stream and an Orange one on the wall to the right of the exit door. Ride the Funnel to the other side where the Switch is. Before activating the Switch, fire an Orange Portal on the left wall so that the Funnel catches the Cube as it falls. Hit the Switch and use the Portals and the Funnel to bring the Cube to you. Once you have it, look at the blue target on the far left wall. Shoot an Orange Portal on the wall next to it, then with the Cube in hand, step on the Aerial Faith Plate nearby. When the Funnel catches you, ride it until you can slip off back to the other side. Fire an Orange Portal on the ground so that you and the Cube rise up in front of the Button above the exit door. As you reach the top, shoot an Orange Portal at the wall facing the Button. Slip away from the Funnel before you hit the Button and allow the Cube to do its job. Step through the door once it's opened. In this next Chamber, watch out for the turret on the other side of the glass. To get rid of him, fire a Blue Portal at the dead end of the Funnel, then an Orange one on the wall, extending the Funnel so that it pushes the turret off the ledge. The Button here reverses the action of the Funnel, making it pull instead of push. Use this and your Portals to bring the Cube to you. Once you have the Cube, position it on top of the Button so it doesn't hop off on its own. Then, ride the Funnel to the other side. You'll need the Funnel back to its original push state, so use the Funnel on the Cube to knock it off the Button. Now, fire an Orange Portal on the ground in front of the exit door, allowing you to levitate up to the exit. Fire a Blue Portal at the dead end of the Funnel. Then fire an Orange Portal at the center platform in front of you. Launch yourself from the Aerial Faith Plate nearby and the Funnel should catch you. Ride it all the way to the ceiling, and when you get to the top, look for an angled wall panel. Shoot a Blue Portal at it and allow yourself to fall through. When you land, place the Blue Portal back in the Funnel and hit the Switch. A Cube will drop right on top of the Faith Plate, but the Funnel should catch it. Now, have the Cube do exactly what you did: drop through the Orange Portal and out the Blue one that should now be on the angled panel. Catch the Cube and place it on the Button to exit this Chamber. In the sixth Chamber, fire a Blue Portal at the Bridge to the right, then another one at the wall in front of the large Emancipation Grill. Activate the Switch and watch a Cube be shot out towards the Grill. If you placed the Bridge right, it should stop the Cube before it disintegrates into the Grill. Hopefully the Cube won't fall into the pit, or else you'll have to brave the three turrets down there while using your Portals to get the Cube out. Shoot an Orange Portal at the wall facing the catwalk above and, with the Cube, step onto the Aerial Faith Plate. You should have landed on the catwalk. From here, shoot the Orange Portal so that it blocks the turrets below. Now bring the Cube behind the Grill and place it on the Button. Portal your way back up and launch yourself back t the catwalk to exit the Chamber. Place a Blue Portal at the bottom of the Funnel stream, then an Orange once on the empty panel on the floor between the Aerial Faith Plate and the angled panel. Ride the Funnel up to the ceiling. When you hit the top, shoot a Blue Portal on the angled panel and fall through the Orange one. After landing, grab the Cube here and head to where the laser is. Block the laser beam with the cube. With power to the Funnel cut off, Portal back to your starting point. Above the laser beam is another angled panel. Shoot a Blue Portal here, and an Orange one on the first angled panel. Launch yourself through the Orange one so that you're brought to the Redirection Cube. Grab that Cube and go back to the laser beam. Swap the Cubes and shoot a Blue Portal at the wall and use the Redirection Cube to aim the laser at it. Shoot an Orange Portal at the far wall near the lifts and step through with the Cube with legs. Notice the receiver here. Take the Cube with legs and place it on the empty floor panel near the Faith Plate, arranging it so that it doesn't hop away by itself. Now, you'll need to go back to the receiver and adjust the Portals (and the Redirection Cube, if necessary) so that the beam hits the receiver. The lift behind you should lower; stand on it. Look at the Blue Portal; shoot it anywhere else so that the beam is cut again, and your lift should rise. Now arrange your Portals so that power is restored to the Funnel. Aim your Portals to get the Cube to hit the Button on the ceiling to lower the second lift. Step on the second lift and remove the Cube from the Button, making the second lift rise to the exit door. When you enter the next Test Chamber, look at the red energy field on the far side of the room. Next to it are two laser beam receivers, the bottom one controls the movement of the platform along the wall, and the top one is the on/off switch for the red energy field. Fire a Blue Portal at the laser beam near you, and an Orange one on the wall so that the laser hits the lower receiver. When the platform makes it to the far left of the room, Portal over to it. Arrange your Portals so that the platform is moving again, but you'll again have to arrange them to switch the energy field off, or it'll kill you if you touch it. When you reach the other side, drop down and allow the platform to go back to the other side of the room. Hit the Switch here and if you've timed it right, a Redirection Cube will drop down on it. Use your Portals to make your way back on to the platform. Now, with you and the Cube on the platform, position the platform on the left side of the energy field (left if you're facing towards the exit door, right if you're looking at the energy field from where you came in). Use your Portals to shoot the laser beam at the Cube on the platform, then back to the receiver near the exit door. Portal back to the exit door and replace any Portals (Portaling to the exit door from where the platform was will cause the beam to get cut). Exit this chamber and move to the next one. Hit the Switch nearby to get the Cube to fall. It'll be caught by two panels, keeping it out of your reach. Stand on the nearby and fire a Blue Portal at the Funnel, and an Orange one on the wall facing the Cube. Use the Funnel to "grab" the Cube and bring it to you. Now take the Cube and, with your Portal Gun, get it on the Button inside the glass room. With the Orange Gel now flowing, go back to the Button that controls the Funnel. Use the Funnel to catch the Gel and coat the ramp and to create another runway. Go back to the glass room and grab the Cube. Place the Cube on the Funnel control Button and use your Portals to aim the Funnel stream to the other side of the testing area. Run off the ramp and ride the Funnel all the way to the other side. Land on the catwalk and walk down the path. Follow it to an Emancipation Grill and step through. This will neutralize your Portals, so use the wall in this room to Portal back to the main area. Go back to the ramp and aim a Portal at the wall behind the large Emancipation Grill. The Funnel should now be flowing through the Grill and to the exit door. Launch yourself off the ramp again and let the Funnel stream do the rest of the work. When you finally get to the main area of this Test Chamber, notice the turrets behind the glass and the Switch on the other side of the room below a Gel dispenser. Portal over to that side of the room. From here, shoot a Blue Portal at the Funnel, and an Orange Portal at the wall near you so that the Funnel is traveling towards the entrance of the area. Hit the switch to get the Blue Gel flowing, then cut the Funnel stream so that there's Blue Gel coating the edge near you. Set the Funnel up to travel to the entrance, hit the switch and jump into the stream. You show now be traveling in the Funnel with the Blue Gel right behind you. When you land, step on the Button near the entrance door to reverse the direction of the Funnel, carrying the Gel back to where it came from. Now turn and face where the turrets are. See the wall paneling above them? Fire an Orange Portal at the wall, then step off the Button. The Gel should now pass through the Portals and over the Turrets. Cut the Funnel stream so that the Gel falls on the Turrets causing them to bounce off and coating the floor they were on in Blue Gel. Go behind the glass and hit the Switch here, causing a panel near the entrance to angle upwards. Keep a Blue Portal aimed into the Funnel stream, then place an Orange Portal on the floor in front of the angled panel, causing the Funnel to shoot upwards toward the ceiling. Ride the Funnel up, then shoot a Blue Portal on the panel. You should now fall through the Orange one and be launched from the panel, onto the Blue Gel where the turrets were, and land in front of the exit.

Chapter 9: The Part Where He Killed You

You'll see an Aerial Faith Plate ahead of you and a bouncing Cube. Step on the Cube and Wheatley will spring his trap. Instead of launching you forward, the Faith Plate will send you flying to the right towards impending doom. Go along for the ride until you're dropped on a platform with Wheatley on a giant screen. Next to Wheatley's screen is a wall you can place a Portal on; shoot a Blue one on it and wait until the White Gel spills onto your platform then shoot an Orange one to portal to safety. Run down the catwalk until you reach a dead end. Above you is a wall panel. Place a Blue Portal here then look straight down. Shoot an Orange one down here and drop through. Continue along the path until you reach the exit door. Wheatley will force you into a room full of turrets, but these are all the defective ones that can't shoot. Continue through the exit door. The next area has working turrets and behind them is a Funnel. Shoot a Blue Portal at the Funnel, then an Orange one on the wall behind the turrets. The Funnel should take care of them. Ride the Funnel all the way to the next area. Leave the funnel before hitting the spikes and exit through the Grill. Shoot a Blue Portal at the Funnel, then an Orange one on the wall so you can ride the Funnel out. Wheatley will try to crush you with a giant wall panel, so shoot an Orange Portal at the smaller panel at the other end so that the Funnel catches you as you fall. Stay in the Funnel until you can drop back down to a catwalk, escaping the crushing panel. Follow the catwalk to escape. There are more turrets up ahead guarding the catwalk to the exit door. Look up and to the right, you should see a wall you can place a Portal on. Enter this room and you'll see a Button, an Aerial Faith Plate, and a Blue Gel dispenser. Shoot a Blue Portal under the dispenser, then turn around and place Orange portals along the wall near the turrets. Stand on the Button and watch the Gel take care of the turrets. Now step on the Plate to send yourself onto the catwalk. Notice the broken glass window in the next room and the switch. If you hit the switch, one of the tubes inverts and drops explosives on the ground. Place a Blue Portal at the spot where the explosives hit, then an Orange one on the wall panel facing the tube full of White Gel. When the Gel is released, use your Portals to escape. There's a conveyor belt that Wheatley will activate as soon as you step on it. Quickly get to the other side before you die. Notice the Switch here that activates another tube full of explosives. On the other end is a tube full of Orange Gel -- destroy this tube in the same manner as just a moment ago to release the Orange Gel. Use the Gel and your Portals to coat the conveyor belt so you can run down it and escape, literally running to the next platform through the Portal. Keep a Blue Portal underneath the Orange Gel and go to the next area. Shoot an Orange Portal down the small hallway near the Funnel to create a "runway." Shoot a Blue Portal on the floor below the Funnel. Run through the Portals and catch a ride in the Funnel stream. Use your Portals to escape up the elevator shaft and to the next area.

Final Battle: The 5 Deadly Plans

When the battle starts, stand next to the tube of White Gel. Let Wheatley's explosives open the tube and watch as the White Gel spills out. For those that have beaten the original Portal game, the rest of this strategy should seem familiar. Face Wheatley so that the part that's not covered by his blast shields is exposed and facing a Portal surface. Place an open Portal on the ground and then stand near it. Immediately move out of the way before the explosive hits you. If you placed your Portals correctly, each explosive that goes into the Portal on the ground will pop out and hit Wheatley. After every succesful hit, GLaDOS will deliver a core for you to attach to Wheatley. Portal up to the catwalk and grab the first core. Look for the red-lit area on Wheatley's body to attach the core to. Use the Blue Gel to bounce up to the first area on Wheatley's body and put the core in its place. A countdown timer will start, giving you only minutes to finish the battle. Repeat the same tactic, but adjust your Portals to aim for whatever part of Wheatley's body is exposed. The second core can be reached by jumping off the catwalk onto the Blue Gel, then grabbing the core. The third core requires the Orange Gel. With your Portals, make a runway, with your exit Portal aiming up at the core. Run and grab the core and place it on Wheatley. When the corruption reaches 100%, GLaDOS will initiate the transfer. Just like your fight with her in Chapter 5, you need to hit the Switch in the small room. Use your Portals to get in the room (notice the white ceiling in the control room), but Wheatley has one more surprise in store. Watch as Wheatley springs his final trap, but when the opportunity to escape presents itself, you'll know what to do (hint: remember what Cave Johnson said about ground up Moon rocks?). Congratulations! You've complete the single-player portion of Portal 2! Enjoy the ending.
